What viruses cause Exanthem?

Viral exanthems can be caused by many viruses, such as enteroviruses, adenovirus, chickenpox, measles, rubella, mononucleosis, and certain types of herpes infection. Viral exanthems are very common and can vary in appearance. Most cause red or pink spots on the skin over large parts of the body.

What causes exanthema?

Exanthems are usually caused by viral or bacterial infections. They can also be caused by drugs, toxins, or autoimmune diseases. The rash may or may not be itchy. Exanthems caused by viruses or bacteria often are part of systemic illness with fever, malaise, and headache.
