Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon are two action-adventure video games developed by Animation Magic and published by Philips Interactive Media for the CD-i. Link: The Faces of Evil puts the player in control of Link, who goes on a quest to defeat Ganon and rescue Princess Zelda.
Is CD-i link canon?
All three are non-canon to the Zelda franchise. Faces of Evil, Wand of Gamelon, and Zelda’s Adventure were created after Philips secured the rights to use Nintendo characters in CD-i games.

Is Link Faces of Evil canon?
Link: The Faces of Evil is a video game developed by Animation Magic and released for the Philips CD-i in 1993. The games have been subject to much criticism, and Nintendo does not recognize them as canon to The Legend of Zelda series.
Why are the Zelda CDI games so bad?
The biggest problem with these games in general is a combination of an unintuitive control scheme, horrendous level design, inaccurate collision, and poorly implemented mechanics. Since the CDI had no standardized controller, these games only used 2 buttons.

The Philips CD-i and the 3DO Interactive Multiplayer are region-free. Japanese 3DO units, however, have a kanji font in ROM, which is required by a few games. When such games can’t find the font, they can get locked or rendered unplayable.

The CD-i’s various controllers were ranked the fifth worst video game controller by IGN editor Craig Harris. PC World ranked it as fourth on their list of “The 10 Worst Video Game Systems of All Time”.
