Do waterslides have to be sealed?

You only need to seal Inkjet waterslide paper (printed using an inkjet printer) and both clear and white inkjet waterslide must be sealed. For Laser printed decals, if you do seal the decal it is ok too but is not essential. See the Basics below to make sure you are setting up the printer settings correctly.

Do you have to seal waterslide before epoxy?

You do not have to seal it again before putting on the epoxy, but you could if you really wanted. I did not. Note: Even though your waterslide decal is now set or sealed, you must still gently handwash them — this does not make them dishwasher safe.

Some factors such as the room humidity while drying , but usually after a water slide decal adheres to the rod I would give it about a 3 hr. drying time before applying finish. This should be sufficient and has worked for most applications I’ve tried.

Over working your decal: Over working your waterslide decal can cause cracking and tearing. To avoid overworking it have placement lined up before sliding it off the backing onto the project. You will also want to make sure that your project has some water on it to allow the decal to glide on smoothly.

Can you put water slides on wood?

Steps to Use Waterslide Paper on wood. Make sure that the surface of the wood has no blemishes, burrs or raised areas that interfere with the smooth surface. Do not apply waterslide paper directly onto painted surfaces. Be sure you don’t skip the sealing step.
